Caring for Your Furniture
Caring For Your Oak Furniture
Oiled Oak Furniture Our oak furniture is finished with a pigmented hardwax oil. This enhances the natural tone of the wood and gives it a protective layer that helps resist everyday stains. While it’s not completely stain-proof, quick care makes all the difference, if you spill, simply wipe it away straight away.
From time to time, your furniture will benefit from a little refresh. We recommend Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner (3029) - it gently cleans, nourishes the wood, and strengthens the protective coating.
Everyday Care
Dust with a soft, dry cloth. For spills, use a damp cloth with natural soap, wiping in the direction of the wood grain. Avoid detergents or chemical cleaners. Dry with a soft cloth to prevent marks. Protect your table with coasters, placemats, or trivets for hot dishes. Move vases or flowerpots from time to time, and always wipe away excess water to avoid rings
Deeper Care
Over the years, your table’s finish may need a little renewal. We recommend Osmo Hardwax Oil Natural (3041). For scratches, stubborn marks, or discolouration: Lightly sand the surface. Ensure it’s clean and dry. Apply the oil evenly, removing any excess. Allow to dry fully before use. This restores your table’s natural beauty and long-lasting protection.
Caring for Metal Frames
The metal detailing in our furniture is durable and timeless, and a little care keeps it looking sharp. Dust with a soft, dry cloth. For deeper cleaning, use mild soap with warm water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Avoid harsh products like bleach, steel wool, or sandpaper. When moving furniture, always lift — never drag. This protects both the frame’s finish and your floors.
Other Information
We have been making wood furniture for over 35 years and have absolute faith in the quality of our furniture. If you buy a piece of furniture from us that develops a structural fault, we’ll either fix it or replace the item for free. This guarantee is valid for all our wooden furniture with the exception of chairs and upholstery. It’s a personal use guarantee, which means it is not valid for furniture used in the workplace (e.g. pubs or restaurants). This guarantee does not cover “wear and tear” which naturally occurs with time, and it doesn’t apply if you have caused damage yourself (e.g. spillages, burns, etc.). Alteration to the piece or mistreatment nullifies this guarantee
Maintenance
We are happy to provide advice on the maintenance of your piece. However, as a general rule real wood products should be kept away from direct heat (For example. Radiators etc.) and persistent direct sunshine. Liquids and/or heat may cause marks on the surface – we recommend the use of coasters/heat pads where appropriate. Spillages should be wiped up with a damp cloth. Do not use chemical commercial cleaning liquids or sprays.
Faults
When your goods arrive we hope they are in great condition and provide you with many years of service. Of course problems sometimes occur. It is our experience that most of these problems can be resolved with a mixture of common sense, fairness and compromise. If a problem does arise please report it to us at info@blacksofsopwell.com. We will personally see that the issue is resolved as quickly as possible. This may be through repair, replacement or another suitable option. We are aware that problems can be frustrating for you, as they are for us. Nevertheless, we believe all issues can be resolved in a courteous and timely manner.
