Upcoming Autumn Workshop
We are delighted to welcome back the lovely Kim Raymont who is hosting one of her creative workshops this October, in our Old Workshop space at the Sopwell Tithe Barn St Albans
Linocut & Fabric Printing
Saturday 15th October 10-12.30
Learn how to use linocut tools to carve a botanical design, and hand print three fabric pieces with your images. The inspiration of nature combined with the liberation of creative play are the essence of this workshop. Suitable for all abilities, and in a nurturing and warm space where you are free to explore materials, it’s an opportunity to spend time looking at nature and relax in a no pressure environment. Enjoy creating with your hands in the company of like minded individuals, and go home with three beautiful and useful fabric items.
The three items are: a tote shopping bag, small cosmetic bag or purse, and a tea towel- all of these are organic fairtrade cotton.
Once settled down with a complimentary drink, you will be guided you through how to transfer your own design (or if you prefer one taken from a template) onto the lino; step by step guidance on how to carve the design, how to ink the block, and finally how to print it using printmaking equipment. You'll test print it onto paper first to ensure you are happy with the design, then print it onto your fabric pieces. You will end up with a wonderful selection of plant inspired work to use or give as gifts.
The workshop takes place from 10-12.30.
Use this time to relax and find your flow in a very non pressured environment, with space to explore new materials and rediscover the beauty and joy in really looking at the nature that surrounds us. Making has a meditative effect, and we all need some mindful down time.
Please note tickets are non refundable less than two weeks before the event, and the class must have a minimum of four to take place.
